Comments
The allowable responses to MEPS question about smoking changed in 2003. Therefore, reported national rates may not be comparable with earlier years.
The national table reports data from the MEPS Self-Administered Questionnaire (SAQ). Nonrespondents and "Don't Know" responses were excluded from the analysis.

Estimates are age adjusted to the 2000 U.S. standard population.

Estimates are age adjusted to the 2000 U.S. standard population, except where indicated. Total, race, ethnicity, gender, and family income are adjusted using three age groups: 20-44, 44-64, and 65 and over; education is adjusted using age groups 25-44, 45-64, and 65 and over.
