2011 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Reports

The National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) is a comprehensive national overview of quality of health care in the United States. It is organized around four dimensions of quality of care: effectiveness, patient safety, timeliness, and patient centeredness.

Number of antibiotic courses ordered, supplied, administered, or continued at a specific visit for persons diagnosed with the common cold (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision codes 460.0, 465, or 472.0) per 10,000 population. U.S. Census Bureau estimated civilian noninstitutional population on July 1, 2008, and July 1, 2009.

^b. Race data were missing for about 21.7% of visits. Missing data were imputed, and standard errors were inflated consistent with the guidance in 2007 NAMCS Microdata File Documentation, ftp://ftp.cdc.gov/pub/Health_Statistics/NCHS/Dataset_Documentation/NAMCS/doc07.pdf.� These data should be interpreted with caution.
