2011 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Reports

The National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) is a comprehensive national overview of quality of health care in the United States. It is organized around four dimensions of quality of care: effectiveness, patient safety, timeliness, and patient centeredness.

^a. Short-stay residents stay fewer than 30 days in a nursing home, typically following an acute care hospitalization.

^b. Residents with moderate to severe pain experience pain at least daily, or horrible or excruciating pain at any frequency.

^c. Data reflect care for the third quarter of each calendar year.

^d. Excludes records with unknown age, gender, and race/ethnicity.
