The various parts of the charter are shown in this slide. They emphasize manageable scope with defined metrics for success.

The number of team members will also be important because a team larger than 12 members is rarely able to get the work done and make decisions efficiently and effectively. Setting target dates to complete PI stages is often reassuring to team members who have a history of being on teams that never finished their work.

The project charter can be updated regularly and presented to senior leaders for their approval to move forward. The leadership update meetings throughout the process are an important way to identify specific challenges or barriers that the team is facing.
