Library of Spanish-Language Resources

Effective Health Care Program

The AHRQ Library of Spanish-Language Resources offers important research updates and educational information in Spanish to help with the management of diseases and conditions.

Hispanics, who account for 15 percent of the U.S. population, are more likely than whites to experience poor health outcomes. For example, Hispanics have significantly higher rates of hospital admissions for short-term complications due to diabetes. For many Hispanics, seeking treatment means using a new language to navigate a complex health care system.1

AHRQ now offers a growing library of publications in Spanish that compare treatments for heart and vascular system conditions, diabetes, cancer, bone and joint-related conditions, pregnancy, mental health, and digestive system ailments. The Spanish-language publications can serve as tools for health care professionals to assist in patient and caregiver education. They also provide opportunities for Hispanics to easily compare treatments with their health care providers for many common conditions: https://effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov/espanol

AHRQ has also launched a Spanish-language Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/AHRQehc.espanol where you can stay informed about AHRQ’s EHC Program's news and resources. Organizations can also sign our online pledge of commitment to increase awareness about Spanish-language, evidence-based resources.
