Ms. Davis reviewed the evolution of the Arizona Health Care
Cost Containment System's (AHCCCS) information systems from 1982 to the present, and
focused on the kinds of information AHCCCS typically collects:
- Encounter data.
- Enrollee data.
- Fee-for-service (FFS) claims system data.
- Health maintenance organization (HMOs) financial and quality management information.
AHCCCS uses this
information for purchasing, regulatory oversight, to negotiate improvements in HMO performance,
to respond to public information requests, and for budgeting.
All presenters spoke to the challenges
of developing information-sharing partnerships.
