RFP Available for Evidence-based Practice Centers

Today the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research issued a
Request for Proposals (RFP)
to establish Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPCs). Proposals
are due March 24, 1997.
The EPCs will produce evidence reports and technology assessments
based on comprehensive
reviews and rigorous analyses of the relevant scientific
evidence. The reports and
assessments will be used by systems of care, professional
societies, purchasers and others as
the scientific foundation for developing their own practice
guidelines, performance measures
and other quality improvement tools, and for making decisions
related to the effectiveness or
appropriateness of specific health care technologies.
