New AHRQ funding opportunity announcements invite applicants to propose projects for implementing and evaluating health information technologies:

• Implementation and Evaluation of New Health Information Technology Strategies for Collecting and Using Patient-Reported Outcome Measures.
• Health Information Technology to Improve Health Care Quality and Outcomes.

AHRQ’s Patient Safety Network (PSNet) highlights journal articles, books and tools related to patient safety. Articles featured this week include:

New Report Tells the Story of the Electronic Data Methods Forum

A new report from AcademyHealth explains how the AHRQ-funded Electronic Data Methods Forum brought together clinical and bioinformatics innovators, helped these experts set research priorities and enabled them to disseminate findings to diverse audiences. The forum, established in 2010 to connect 11 AHRQ grantees working to improve health care through the use of electronic health data, now includes more than 4,000 participants who use clinical data to examine and solve health care challenges. Since its inception, the forum has led national dialogues on issues such as health data governance, data sharing, methods and analytics, and dissemination of findings.

Health Datapalooza Highlights Innovation in Health Information Technology

Register for May 10 Webinar on TeamSTEPPS® in the Perioperative Setting

Register now for an AHRQ webinar on May 10 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET that will highlight efforts by Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center to implement the TeamSTEPPS patient safety training program to its perioperative division of more than 600 staff members. The webinar, "Presenting TeamSTEPPS in the Perioperative Setting," will describe strategies for implementing large interdisciplinary training sessions, offer guidance on customizing learning materials to increase staff engagement and demonstrate how TeamSTEPPS training may be customized to meet facility-specific needs.
