She received her MD from the University of Missouri, Columbia and served her Pediatric residency there as well. She later earned her MPH at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where she also studied forensic pediatrics. Dr. Laskey's goal is to be a highly successful independent clinical researcher in the field of child abuse and health services research. She plans to focus specifically on improving the quality of care for children who may be victims of child abuse through patient-focused research and physicians' decision-making. Progress to Date: Dr. Laskey completed a large national survey of general pediatricians using a realistic case presentation of a child who presents to medical attention with a clinically ambiguous history of a fracture that may or may be inflicted. Future Plans: After analyzing the free text data from the pediatrician study, the grantee will adjust the survey as necessary and conduct another national survey of physicians, with family practice or emergency medicine physicians. Dr. Laskey will submit an R01 application and continue to work on manuscript development. Highlights and Specific Accomplishments:
