Slide 7. Asthma Enrollment Update

Alabama's Experience Using AHRQ's Quality Diagnostic Tools and Technical Assistance

Text Description is below the image.

The slide shows a chart with four columns. The column on the far left is titled "Participating County" and lists Tuscaloosa, Lamar, Pickens, Calhoun, Talladega, Bullock, Montgomery, and Pike. The second column is titled "start date" and lists start dates for each county ranging from 2/8/2008 to 5/5/2008. The third column is titled "Asthma Medicaid Enrollment Goal" and includes enrollment numbers that range from 50 to 206. The column on the far right is titled "Ever Enrolled" and includes enrollment numbers that range from 51 to 278. The total enrollment goal is 718 and the total ever enrolled is 1,296.

Notes: Several factors limit the number of individuals to be targeted for enrollment in care management. These include number of care managers, refusal of providers to participate, patient/caregiver refusal to participate, and inability to locate. Based on these factors, an estimate of Q4U participants of 1200 was determined. The estimated enrollment was met with an "Actual" enrollment total of 1296 achieved. Of these, 795 were enrolled for at least 6 months, which was the minimum enrollment timeframe decided upon prior to implementation.
